What's the deal with Ravenna Rocks and Ravenna Refills? We're sister stores that share a building in Ravenna: Ravenna Rocks up front, Ravenna Refills in back. Refills now has its own website at ravennarefills.com, but both shops still run through the same online ordering system behind the scenes. Who's behind Ravenna Rocks? Read the full story on our About page. The short version: we're neighborhood locals who bought a beloved old building to preserve it, and opened a crystal shop inside because we wanted to create a space for people to connect with each other, explore their spirituality, and find something special. Skeptics welcomed!
What will I find at Ravenna Rocks? Rocks and minerals in every shape, size, and color; carved crystals shaped like hearts, cats, and other animals; fossils, including ammonites, arrowheads, and teeth; metaphysical supplies like incense, candles, and tarot cards; jewelry; books and educational materials; gifts and home décor. Popular picks include TV rock, fossils, and our carved heart and cat crystals, but come in and see what's calling to you.
Wait, a rock shop with cross-stitch supplies? Yep! Alongside the crystals, we carry a well-stocked selection of cross-stitch and embroidery essentials: DMC floss, Aida fabric, needles, hoops, needleminders, scissors, and a rotating lineup of kits for all skill levels, including our mini Pride hearts (we donate $5 of each one to local Queer organizations). Consider it a little convenience for the stitchers in the neighborhood who don't want a trip to the big box store.
Do you have gift cards? Yes, available both in-store and online, and they make a great gift for the rock and crystal lovers in your life.
Do you offer bulk or wholesale pricing? We offer bulk pricing in-store on select stones; just let us know what you're after. Wholesale accounts are available to qualifying businesses with a valid reseller permit. Email us with details about your business and what you're looking for.
Can my dog come with me? If your pet's friendly, we're pet-friendly! Well-behaved pets on a leash or in a carrier are always welcome, just keep an eye on them around our more delicate displays. (Note: pets aren't allowed at Ravenna Refills, given the hygienic requirements around the products we carry there.)
Where do your rocks and crystals come from? A mix of direct relationships with miners, ethical suppliers, and independent rockhounds, with an emphasis on sustainability and fair trade. We also carry a selection of specimens sourced locally from the Pacific Northwest. Availability varies, so ask if you're looking for something specific.
Are your crystals ethically sourced? We do our best. We prioritize small-scale miners, fair-trade sources, and suppliers who take environmental responsibility and fair labor practices seriously. The crystal trade is complicated, and we're always working toward more transparency in how we source.
Is everything natural? The majority of our inventory is made up of natural specimens, but we also carry a decent volume of polished, carved, dyed, alchemicalized, and man-made stones/materials. We try hard to label and disclose these. We'll admit we sometimes fall behind when new stock comes in faster than we can label it. If you're ever unsure about a specific piece, just ask, and feel free to nudge us if something needs a label!
Can you identify a rock or crystal I found? We love this kind of thing and can usually offer general guidance, though we're not certified geologists, mineralogists, or paleontologists. For a precise ID, a local geology club, university department, or professional appraiser is your best bet. Bring it by anyway, and we'll do what we can.
Do you have break-your-own geodes? Yes! Sizes and types vary. Small Moroccan quartz geodes are our most popular and easiest to crack at home, but we are always bringing in new options that you can break with our geode cracking contraption right here in the store! If you're new to breaking geodes, we're happy to walk you through the best (and safest) way to do it.
Do you offer tumbling or lapidary services? Not at this time, but we carry tumbling media and rough stones if you want to get started yourself. For classes, Northwest Rockhounds up the road offers great lapidary workshops, and Rocktumbler.com has our favorite free guide to troubleshooting tumbles.
Will you buy my rocks or fossils? Generally, no. We make exceptions for personally collected specimens with known provenance, inherited collections needing a new home, or the occasional high-quality consignment piece. We can't accept anything sourced illegally or unethically (national parks, protected lands, restricted areas), mass-produced tumbled stones, or common or damaged specimens. If you think what you have fits, email us clear photos, descriptions, and any provenance details. We don't do walk-in appraisals, but we'll review submissions and get back to you.
Will you display or consign my artwork? We love supporting local Seattle and PNW artists! We prioritize work that fits our themes (nature, crystals, sustainability, mystical and metaphysical elements) and review submissions on quality, originality, and fit. Apply through our online Vendor/Artist Submission Form, and we'll follow up within 60 days.
